CNC milling removes material with rotating cutters and is ideal for prismatic features, pockets, bosses, and large-volume metal removal. Wire EDM excels at intricate 2D profiles, narrow slots, and hardened components where cutter access or tool pressure would be limiting.
Many precision mold projects use both processes in sequence: milling establishes primary geometry and datum surfaces, while wire EDM finishes detailed inserts, shut-offs, and fine contours. Selecting the wrong sequence can add rework, so DFM reviews should flag features early.
RIXIN plans CNC milling and wire EDM as a combined workflow for export customers who need stable tolerances and repeatable quality. The goal is not to favor one technology, but to apply each where it delivers the best outcome for fit, function, and production efficiency.
